Writing in the National Curriculum

Writing in the National Curriculum ( WiNC) is a home school programme which continues the good principles of PiLT, but at a higher level and with further cross Curriculum links to other areas such as Science, and Humanities.

It has a unique writing & sketch book for Year 1 and Year 2 with appropriate plans and assessment sheets to work alongside the National Curriculum targets in a creative manner.

It also records high frequency words, phonics progression and book band comprehension level; it goes into greater depth with Ourselves, Pets, Food, Traditional Tales, Seasons, Weather & Fairy stories in year 1.

Then in year 2 it covers Transport, Jungle, Traditional tales and alternative versions, Castles and alternative Fairy tales. It fosters skills in reciprocal reading so strengthening comprehension in a creative manner.

The programme  has a strong emphasis on reading to learn and enjoy but at the same time works well alongside a School’s phonic spine.
