Scholastic have produced a range of “Short Reads” boxes, that are colour banded to improve reading mileage and expand knowledge. There is also Popcorn ELT primary Readers to build confidence in reading English as a second language, with high interest topics based on popular TV and film characters.

Training can be provided for effective use of the popular PM Literacy Assessment kits. We also provide the popular PM literacy Assessment kits with training. For pupils in Key Stage 2 the excellent “Fast Forward” scheme contains finally levelled fiction and non-fiction books with audio and comprehension activities in addition to a Teacher’s Guide. “Fast Forward” is highly recommended for providing targeted high interest, low book levelled texts.

BLEER’s own reading to learn approach with:“WiNC 2 Reasearch Transport” programme, followed by “WiNC 2 “Researching Animal Habitats” programme, can be used as a cross curriculum intervention for Year 2 or younger Key Stage 2 pupils, requiring  catch up.

Ransom Publishing provides an engaging phonics scheme called “Reading Stars Plus” for the learning to read Key Stage 2 as well as a phonic football scheme called “Goal” In addition engaging books about Peter Ian Green’s life in the: “PIG Diaries”, ‘Boffin Boy” , “321 Go!”, and “Thunderbolts” are available.

Finally there are professional development resources for Reading teachers.
