Key Stage 1 for Schools
The 2 approaches of learning to read and reading to learn are well balanced effectively, the first with the Ransom reading stars phonic scheme and the WiNC 1 and 2 Cross Curriculum literacy scheme.
Phase 2-6 Letters and sounds used in Reading Stars Phonics scheme are available to purchase as well as for training.
Teacher assessments are available – as well as training on implementing Running Records on decodable texts.
The cross Curriculum Themed WiNC 1 and WiNC 2 packs with plans and training are also available on the shop. They include a range of non-fiction and fiction colour coded book bands, so staff can differentiate appropriately at a child’s correct comprehension level. Books link to the children’s own experiences as well as link in content. They are a great way of consolidating all their phonic knowledge and enriching oracy, as children read to learn. They can be used as a class scheme, for home reading, or as an intervention catch up.
A range of Benchmark kits are also available on the shop that are linked to International Comprehension Lexile Levels (Colour bands) Training for Running Records on book bands are also available for staff.
Close reading Material are also available, linked to colour bands, which work well to strengthen comprehension, as well as kits to improve oracy.
In addition there are some parent home support books for phonics in year 1 and SAT practice booklets for year 2
